dressCode focusses on Games Design and making projects through Scratch 3.0 (as it doesn't have to be a game this could be a story or animation), Web Design and Cyber Security. App Development is coming soon! We will announce via our social media channels and contact dressCode teachers directly with any updates! There are some really exciting things being planned that will only be available to dressCode schools, can't wait!

No. dressCode will always be freely available to schools!
-
No. dressCode is just looking for teachers who want to help inspire the next generation of girls into Computing Science. All our resources are set up in a way that pupils can work their way through each topic by themselves, but they may need a little help along the way. Resources are all done by video, where pupils can pause or rewatch as many times as they need to.
-
Absolutely not. dressCode is a club for 11-13 year old girls. Any teacher can run a dressCode club and help inspire girls into tech!

Not to worry, when you register your pupils we will send you a spreadsheet of all your girls names and dressCode gmail accounts so you will always have a list. If you can't find this list just contact us on support@dresscode.org.uk and we'll send it over to you again.

Not to worry this happens. Just send us an email at support@dresscode.org.uk with the name of the account that you need to reset and we'll send you the new details. No. dressCode is an all girls club. At our school we run three clubs; a dressCode club for girls, a coding club for boys using Scratch, Hour of Code and Code.org materials and another club that is a mixed club of boys and girls. We have found really interesting that every year one or two girls will go to the mixed club but either that's all we get or they stop coming. However, since running an all girls dressCode club the number of girls who come along to the mixed club goes up and stays up with girls wanting to come along with their friends and keep working on their projects. It is up to you if you wish to run other clubs but registering as a dressCode club you're agreeing for it always to be a club for girls aged 11-13 only.

This is brilliant and definitely something that we have found happens as part of dressCode. What we would recommend is to invite the girls to be mentors and role models to the younger girls and help support and run your dressCode club. We have found this is a fantastic model to keep girls interested, involved and eager to learn. dressCode is now part of Young STEM Leaders and this means pupil who help run your club can achieve their Young STEM Leader award which has SCQF points. You can find out more details on the Young STEM Leader award page or FAQ Young STEM Leader page.

We work hard to get industry involved in supporting this initiative and hackathons cannot happen without industry support who will provide volunteers on the day and an exciting tech venue that will help inspire girls and raise awareness of opportunities that are accessible to them. Now you're a registered dressCode school, we will keep you informed of any hackathons we organise that are close to your school and invite you and up to ten 11-13 year old girls along.

Excellent! We are always looking for opportunities to collaborate or partner with dressCode to help support this grassroots non-profit. They can contact us via partnerships@dresscode.org or on Twitter @dresscodehq. We look forward to hearing from them and thank you for passing on our details.

Not at all. We want to encourage girls and show them what is possible, they would not be at a disadvantage if they do not have any experience of coding. What we would do is ensure that they are assigned a mentor who is confident and has strong coding skills. For teams like this we try our hardest to get a senior girl pupil, as they are excellent role models and demonstrate a good strong can do attitude that inspires the younger girls. We would also keep a closer eye on this team ourselves, both myself and and my two trustees are experienced teachers who work with 11-13 year old pupils on a daily basis. This format has worked really well in the past to support less confident teams or individuals. We have in the past had pupils who have never coded before win overall competitions!
